A participatory penguin

The Linux Foundation had launched last January, a video contest on the theme “We’re Linux.

The Linux Foundation had launched last January, a video contest on the theme “We’re Linux.
The objective was to create viral clips of less than one minute to promote the spirit of the open source operating system.
Indeed, in early April, more than 100 videos were submitted by users worldwide. It was enough to express what is Linux and in what consisted mainly its community.

When OS become participatory

The jury, composed of VIP from the world of open-source media has to separate the 3 finalists:

- First prize was given to Amitay Tweeto, a 25 year-old Israeli , graphic designer, earning a trip to Tokyo to attend the Linux Symposium to be held in October.

Agustin Eguia a 28 year-old Uruguayan living in Brussels, working at Linux as system engineer, passionated by video animation

- Sébastien Massé, living in Paris and working in the field of audio-visual.

So Linux, although still restricted to a minority, has created a cohesive community, since it has receved 100 videos for a contest launched rather quietly, a score more than admirable. Congratulations … Next!
