The lucky winner for the Best Job of the world is gone… Snif!
At the society, everyone was involved! It must be said that the lot of the Best job in the world was high: to be caretaker for six months of a tropical island in Australia, for an income of 110,000 dollars. Would you believe! Well, it is Ben Southall, 34 years, working in the UK’s charitable sector which won the jackpot and just flew to the islands of the Great Barrier …
The 34,684 applicants in over 200 countries have only their eyes to cry … or to read the chronic of Ben on the blog dedicated to this incredible operation ! As a reminder, this contest was launched in January (see article that had been posted to that date: Meilleur job du monde : meilleur buzz du monde ?) on the initiative of the Australian state of Queensland which sought of an original way to promote tourism. “This is probably the first time a campaign reaches such an audience with a very small budget,” notes Tim Burrowes, Australian marketing specialist and director of the observation of media and marketing site, Mumbrella. But what will they do with this database? Will they invite all the candidates on the blog? Will there be a sequel? Alright … I invite the 34.683 losers to spend a weekend at camping of the lil’ Rohu in Quiberon … It’s better than nothing, right?
In any case, bravo for this operation and this incredible level of participation. It’s really a increasingly participatory world we’re living in!
